About the Position:
Eagle Mountain Nature and Wildlife Alliance (EMNWA), a dedicated nonprofit, is offering an unpaid internship for individuals passionate about wildlife conservation. Under the Board of Directors’ guidance, and the direct supervision of the Alliance Director of Social Media, the intern will play a pivotal role in publicizing our mission, recruiting volunteers, and organizing impactful projects.

We are Looking for Someone Who Has:   

  • Strong familiarity with social media channels and public relations protocols.   
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.   
  • Passion for and basic knowledge of Utah wildlife conservation.   
  • Effective organizational skills for managing volunteers.   
  • An active interest in outdoor activities and the physical ability to participate in conservation projects.  Community relations or development experience in a higher education or professional setting.   
  • The ability to communicate professionally and build relationships with volunteers, donors, partners, and coworkers.   

Responsibilities Include:   

  • Promoting EMNWA’s initiatives across social media platforms.   
  • Drafting and distributing press releases and managing media contacts.   
  • Public speaking at various events and meetings.   
  • Engaging the community in conservation efforts through volunteer coordination.   
  • Participating in and overseeing outdoor volunteer projects.   

Essential Skills:   

  • Social media 
  • Familiarity with all major platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc., and ability to share our information on those platforms. 
  • Public Relations
  • Experience and familiarity with press release protocols (such as publication/broadcast deadlines, standard format elements, etc.).
  • Skills needed to create and maintain a database of relevant media contacts for press releases.   
  • Proficiency and experience with public speaking, including on-camera live and recorded events and civic meetings.   
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, OneNote, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
